I Am the New Year

I Am the New Year

Author Unknown

I am the new year. I am an unspoiled page in your book of time.

I am your next chance at the art of living.

I am your opportunity to practice what you have learned about life during the last twelve months.

All that you sought and didn’t find is hidden in me, waiting for you to search it out with more determination.

All the good that you tried for and didn’t achieve is mine to grant when you have fewer conflicting desires.

All that you dreamed but didn’t dare to do, all that you hoped but did not will, all the faith that you claimed but did not have~
These slumber lightly, waiting to be awakened by the touch of a strong purpose.

I am your opportunity to renew your allegiance to Him who said, “Behold, I make all things new.”

I am the new year.

Christmas--Lost & Found

My sister sent me a Christmas card as usual, but this time she wrote a comment that struck me. "Hey, doesn't this look like something Grandma B. would have sent?" Sure enough the angelic print trimmed in gold resembled the old fashioned Christmas cards our grandmother sent us when she was living.

Lately it has really hit me--the pain of loss many, many folks experience at the holiday season--the loss of loved ones who are no longer with us for various reasons. This year I realized that I have no mother, no father, no grandmothers, and no grandfathers to celebrate the season with. No uncles and no aunts.

Instead of dwelling on the loss, I decided to recall favorite memories, like the one my sister shared with me. I have the old--I mean really old--Christmas songs that my mother would sing to us when we were children like 'Here Comes Suzy Snowflake' and 'Hurrah for Captain Santa Claus'. The words and melody just crop up in me and I begin to sing them no matter where I am or what I am doing. And I have old ornaments and holiday decor. There's the corroding silver ball ornament with my name and birthdate that my Mom painted onto it with red nail polish the first Christmas after I was born. I still remember that my husband's mother gave us the golden-haired angel with the flowing crimson gown.

Our Heavenly Father has a way to redeem all loss. Some losses are redeemed in this earthly lifetime. I was witness to such a thing recently.

I have a sweet neighbor who lost her husband and her long-haired dachshund this past year. My daughter Rachel and I visited her a couple of weeks ago. Knowing how lonely she must feel I asked, "Have you been thinking about getting another dog?"

She smiled and said she had put a few calls into places looking for a small dog but that it was difficult to find one that was not a puppy. She didn't have the strength to train a puppy. "Somehow I think this dog will just come to me," she admitted with a shy grin.

Later that week, Rachel went out to the mailbox and spied a small white dog trotting down the street. The poor thing looked wretched with its matted coat wet from the day's rainfall. "Here, puppy," Rachel coaxed. But the dog scurried away in fear.

Two days later another neighbor called me and told me how she had trapped a small runaway dog and was going to take it to the groomer and the vet. On her way home from the vet, Gloria came by to see me. In her arms was the cutest little dog I have ever seen with red and green plaid bows tied to her ears.

As if reading my mind, Gloria asked, "So who wants her?"

"My daughter Rachel just reminded me that this little dog would be perfect for our neighbor acrossed the street!" I exclaimed and gave her a few details. Gloria's mind was made up when I repeated my neighbor's comment, "And she believes this dog will simply come to her!"

Tears sprung to my eyes as I watched Gloria ring the doorbell to my neighbor's door. "Oh, Mighty Father! How good You are that You would do such a thing to bless this dear woman at this holiday season!"

I decided to wait a couple of days before poking my nose in and seeing how they were doing. "Thank you so much," she said when I called, "And thank Rachel too for thinking of me! I've named the dog Holly." She shared more of Holly's story with me. I was so happy for her...and for Holly!

May yours be a Christmas of Holy Redemption!

There's No Place Like Home

...Consider the lilies of the field... Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?... - Matthew 6:28-31 in part KJV

This is one of those nights when I just don't sleep well. I'm not always certain whether it is the Spirit of the Lord waking me or simply the result of 'getting to that age'.

I look around my room and see a picture we never hung and I know there's another one in the finished basement. We don't hang up all our pictures, I think, because we don't feel at home. I don't think I have ever felt at home anywhere on earth. Ever.

This world is not my home

I'm just a passin' through

as the song goes. Oh, Father God, how I long to go Home.

I wait--will He speak comfort to me?

I charge you to go forward, Daughter, fearing nothing. For truly I have a plan for you and truly My word does not fail. The days are dark and will be darker. But I would not have you to fear for I AM is with you. I AM is for you and goes before you. So fear not.

Do I not take care of the lilies of the field and the birds of the air? How much more do I care for you, Daughter! How much more do I care for you!

...But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. - Matthew 6:33 KJV

Thank Who?

This morning as I was busy doing my webber net thing and copying down recipes for the upcoming Thanksgiving festivities, I happened upon this article.

It brought tears to my eyes...

The More Important Thing by John Paul Jackson

Several years ago, when Streams Ministries was still located in New Hampshire, I started hearing footsteps. Some of the time, it would be my editor coming into my office to tell me I had a phone call or something else, but at other times, no one would be there. I would hear someone enter, but the office would be empty.
Well, this is strange, I would think.

The Busy Body of Christ
All of us have experienced different seasons of busyness in life. I don't mean periods of time when we are swamped for a week or two; I mean entire months and years of busyness, when we don't have time for God because we are trying to do things for Him. In this story, I was in one of those seasons. I had not slowed down in a long time.
One day, I was in the office by myself. I heard someone come into the room and assumed that my staff had returned. I was on a roll, so I kept working, figuring they would tell me what they needed.

But no one said anything. The steps stopped right behind my chair, and the next thing I knew, I felt arms around me. The physical presence was so real that at first, I thought I was being hugged. But when I looked down, nothing was there.
I began to weep, overwhelmed by incredible love and compassion. Conviction dropped over me like a blanket. In a moment, I knew the Lord was showing me that I had gotten too busy for Him. I wasn't giving Him time to touch me.

No Substitutions
We can have phenomenal experiences in God: visitations, translations, transportations, trances, dreams, visions, etc. We can learn to recognize His voice and have angels bring us messages of profound revelation. We can have extreme prophetic gifting and direct the courses of nations. But none of these things can act as a substitute for Him. Doing what God has called you to do is an excellent thing-but not when it takes His place.
Obviously, walking in our calling is very important, but we can't ever forget why we are walking in our calling-why we wanted to take this road in the first place. Our focus can easily shift from God Himself to being busy with what He has given us to do.

Practice the Presence
Around the time of our move to New Hampshire, it seemed like everyone wanted a piece of my attention. I felt constantly pulled on. I love people and I want to help them, but that day in my office, I felt the Lord was letting me know, "John Paul Jackson, you've gotten so busy working for Me that you don't have room for Me to touch you. You don't make time for Me to touch you, like you used to."
It may seem like an oxymoron, but sometimes we are so busy going after Him that we fail to wait for Him. As Isaiah 30:18 declares, God moves and acts on the behalf of those who wait for Him. They give Him time, and He responds.
No matter what happens in our relationship with God, what level of gifting we have, where we feel God has placed us in His body, the influence we may or may not have-we need to keep our gaze on the more important thing: God Himself.
Throughout our lives, there will be times when God calls us to hard work and other times when God calls us to rest; in both seasons, He is here. Where are you? Learn to hear His voice. Seek Him out. Let Him touch you. Practice the presence of God and grant Him the desire of His heart.

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, [which] shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, - Isaiah 62:6 KJV

Friends of mine emailed me to alert me of what is happening. I am thankful for this because we do not have regular TV reception in our home (we gave up cable, etc.).

UN recognition of a Palestinian state is one step closer to collapse according to the internet news (click on ynetnews). Although the Palestinians are no longer pushing for full state status this year in the United Nations, the proposed strategy is for them to request upgraded status:

...Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian leadership, is expected to convene his leadership council by the beginning of next week to discuss alternative options.

It is likely that they will approve the presentation of a resolution to the General Assembly, which can upgrade the Palestinian Authority from its present status as an observer entity at the UN to that of a "non-member state" without recourse to the Security Council.

Known as the "Vatican Option", it would give the Palestinians the same status as the Holy See, which cannot vote on resolutions but which – crucially – is regarded as a sovereign state.

Although no decision has yet been made, a Palestinian official said a resolution could be tabled before the General Assembly meets on November 29, when it traditionally discusses Palestinian affairs. [Excerpt taken from:]

We need to be in prayer especially now for the peace of Jerusalem, because (as I mentioned in my previous article written September 17--click on Urgent) upgraded observer status could be interpreted as implicit UN recognition of Palestinian statehood because the assembly would be acknowledging that the Palestinians control an actual state.

The advantage of this option to the Palestinians is that it would require only a simple majority of the General Assembly. Since around 120 countries have already recognized the state of Palestine to date, it would likely win such a vote overwhelmingly.

If the Palestinians were to be recognized as a non-member state, they would be able to sign certain international treaties, such as the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which they cannot currently sign. This would mean thousands of lawsuits against Israel and isolation and demonization of the State of Israel...

...and you know what happens to those who would do this (see Joel 3:1-2 and Deuteronomy 30 if you don't remember).

These are amazing and prayerful days we live in!

Here Comes the Bride!

While doing research on the seven festivals of the Lord, I came across writings that were done on the subject of Who is the Bride of Christ?

Ed Chumney (who I have been quoting profusely in my blogging) wrote a book by that title and you can actually read it on-line at Although he is one of my favorite authors and I greatly esteem this brother, I am not sure about some of his teaching on what he considers mandatory for a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. But he has given me pause to think and to seek out more of the Truth.

We should never stop seeking the Truth.

Another author has caught my attention recently--the late J. Leland Earls whose articles and booklets are posted at the website of Brother Earls presents Biblical evidence that Christ will receive His saints to Himself in TWO groups and that the first group of saints to be translated or raptured will be the Bride of Christ. WH-WH-WHAT?!

I remembered that Enoch had been translated (Hebrews 11:5), so I allowed my curiosity to drive me to read on even though off the top of my head I could not think of any scripture to back this statement up. His first scriptural illustration was the Wise and Foolish Virgins of Matthew 25:1-13. His definition of who the Foolish Virgins are will surprise you!

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five [were] foolish. They that [were] foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. - Matthew 25:1-4 KJV

Who are the Wise Virgins? "The wise simply had EXTRA oil with them (a type of the FURTHER WORK of the Holy Spirit in the BAPTISM of the Holy Spirit and subsequent purifyings and preparations by that same Spirit). Most Christians, brainwashed by the traditions of man, simply do not want to accept the fact that MORE is required to be READY to be taken by the Lord than simply being a born-again believer." [Quoted from]

I want to emphasize here that I am making NO ATTEMPT to judge any individual member of the family of God to determine if they are the Bride of Christ. I simply am presenting to you what I pray is spiritually stimulating information that will cause you to go deeper--deeper in your understanding of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life and deeper in your relationship with the Lord Yahshua, Jesus.

I believe our Lord and Redeemer and Lover of our Soul longs for an intimacy with each one of us individually--an intimacy that is deeper and closer than any earthly relationship! Marriage between two saints is to be an example of Christ's love and desire for us~

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. - Ephesians 5:28-32 KJV

Linger Under the Canopy

As the Feast of Tabernacles comes to a close, the Lord asks us to linger one more day--the eighth day of assembly or Shemini Atzeret. This indicates His great desire for intimacy and communion with those He loves. When I shared about how I decorated our library during Sukkot, I said that when I had finished draping the white sheer panels, it looked like a wedding canopy. There's a reason I did that.

Like the cloud by day that led God's people, the cloud also represented a chuppah or wedding canopy:

And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies ], a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory [shall be] a defence [2646]. - Isaiah 4:5 KJV

The word 'defence', according to the Strong's Concordance note No. 2646, is the Hebrew word chuppah meaning 'canopy; chamber; divine protection'.

In a Jewish wedding, the couple is married under the chuppah signifying their new home together. The chuppah can be made from a piece of cloth or other material attached to four poles, or a prayer shawl (tallit) held over the couple by four family members or friends.

I believe it will be during Tabernacles that the Bride of Christ will marry the Bridegroom, Yahshua.

The word chuppah originally appears in the Hebrew Bible (e.g., Joel 2:16; Psalms 19:5)...In biblical times, a couple consummated their marriage in a room. In Talmudic times, the room where the marriage was consummated was called the chuppah.(Excerpt from:

Let us linger under the canopy of intimacy...He is the Beloved!

It's Tent Time!

You shall celebrate the Feast of Booths seven days after you have gathered in from your threshing floor and your wine vat; and you shall rejoice in your feast... - Deuteronomy 16:13-14a NASB

Part of my daughter's homeschool experience was to learn of the seven feasts of the Lord as outlined in Leviticus 23. I don't think she will ever forget the year we did this, because I decided to make these lessons 'come alive' for Rachel.

The final autumn festival, Sukkot, was and is my favorite time. It follows on the heels of Yom Kippur (see The Holiest Day). The Feast of Sukkot is a holiday of rejoicing and celebration, for which the people were commanded to build a hut or sukkah and make it their home (sukkot is the plural).

Sukkot usually is translated as "Tabernacles" or "Booths". In 2 Samuel 11:11 KJV, it is also translated "Tents".

To illustrate this, I festooned our tiny library with white sheer panels. Using the small antique lamp that hung from the center of the ceiling, I tied the material to the chain the light hung from and secured the loose corners with tacks so that each panel billowed out forming what looked like the inside of a wedding canopy. Then I had Rachel help me decorate the room with fall leaves and dried flowers, and real and artificial fruits and vegetables.

I did this not because I believe we as followers of Yahshua, Jesus Christ, are obligated to do it, but to give my youngest child a picture to retain in her mind. I wanted her to be able to remember it. AND it was fun!

Sukkot was celebrated by God's people as a remembrance of their time in the wilderness after they left Egypt on their way to the Promised Land (see Leviticus 23:42). This reminded them of how they lived in temporary dwellings and how the Lord sustained them. The sukkah also reminds God's people of the clouds of glory that surrounded Israel during their wandering through the desert. God bestowed His divine protection on Israel. As it is witten in Exodus:

And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, [from] before the people. - Exodus 13:21-22 KJV

Of course, for us to eternally abide with God, it was necessary for Him to send His only begotten Son who was born--guess when? Yup. During The Feast of Tabernacles!

In The Seven Festivals of the Messiah, Ed Chumney devotes an entire section to this subject entitled, "The Birth of Yeshua During Sukkot". You can go to his website to learn more ( or you can go to this blog site
here and watch 4 short videos that explain when Jesus was born.

These videos state that Tabernacles is an 8-day feast. The scripture says it is a 7-day feast, but that immediately following the last day of Sukkot is the eighth day of assembly or Shemini Atzeret.

"As it is written, 'On the eighth day you shall hold a solemn gathering (Atzeret); you shall not work at your occupations' (Numbers [Bamidbar] 29:35). The rabbis interpreted this verse to mean that G-d asks all who made a pilgrimmage for Sukkot to tarry (atzeret, which comes from the Hebrew root word meaning 'to hold back') with Him one additional day."
p. 187 The Seven Festivals of the Messiah, Ed Chumney

When I first learned of Christ's true birth date, it disheartened me because of what Christmas meant to me. But if you read my December blog articles (click on Christmas), you will see how our great God redeemed this winter celebration!

Zola Levitt, author of The Seven Feasts of Israel, also believed Christ was probably born during the Feast of Tabernacles: "We shall see Him, soon we pray, in that Feast of Trumpets, and we shall return with Him on the day of Atonement. But His complete birth cycle, as it were, will see Him crowned as the rightful King of this creaton, when that final Tabernacles is reached." (Excerpt from page 30)

In God's timetable, those who are 'in Christ' will be gathered together to meet the Lord during The Feast of Trumpets. The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) will be when the world will see The Messiah face to face when we return to earth with Christ.

Then The Feast of Sukkot ...will have its full prophetic accomplishment when the Lord comes with His Church to "tabernacle" or live in the middle of his people, after His return to the earth, to begin His one thousand-year reign. His great tabernacle will be situated in Jerusalem for the feast of Tabernacles (Zech. 14: 16 -17).

This Feast of Tabernacles, seven years after the beginning of the Tribulation, will mark the official inauguration of the Millennium. The "last great day of the feast" the eighth day, represents what will happen at the end of the Millennium, at the time of the last Judgement, the "Great White Throne" which will precede the new creation, the new heavens and the new earth on which the New Jerusalem will come down.

Death will be no more. This earth's history will end and eternity with the Lord will begin.

We can see that the cycle of the seven feasts of the Lord given to the Jewish people has a great prophetic significance for the Church of the Lord Jesus, and for the whole world. (Excerpt from:

Yahshua, our Jesus, is the Star we are all called to see with our (spiritual) eyes!

The Holiest Day

In the timetable of the seven festivals of the Lord today is The Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur in the Hebrew language--the holiest of all days. According to Leviticus Chapter 16 on the holiest day of the year (the Day of Atonement), the holiest man in the world (the high priest of Israel) went into the holiest place in the world (the Holy of Holies). The high priest had to enter in order to make atonement for Israel.

"It is on Yom Kippur when the Great Trumpet, known in Hebrew as the Shofar HaGadol is blown...There are three primary shofarim (trumpets) to the Jewish people and these three trumpets are associated with specific days in the year. These three trumpets are: (a) 'The First Trump,' blown and associated with Shavuot (Pentecost); (b) 'The Last Trump,' blown and associated with Rosh HaShanah; (c) 'The Great Trump,' blown and associated with Yom Kippur."*

Let me share with you why this really is the holiest day. In the Old Testament "G-d issued a warning that no man could see His face and live (Exodus [Shemot] 33:20). But because on the Day of Atonement the priest could be in G-d's presence (Leviticus [Vayikra] 16:2), another term for the Day of Atonement is "face to face".*

Of course, Yahsuha, our Jesus, became The Great High Priest and The Atonement and presented Himself before God's throne on our behalf (Hebrews 4:14-16).

So this fall festival will be completed when we see Him 'face to face'.

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away...
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. - 1 Corinthians 13:9,10,12 KJV

"The year of Jubilee was the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 25:9-11). This was a year and day of liberty. Yeshua came to preach this liberty at His first coming (Isaiah [Yeshayahu]61:1-3; Luke 4:17-21...The ultimate fulfillment of the year of Jubilee will take place at the second coming of Messiah. The earth will be redeemed and come into full and complete rest from the curse brought upon it by Adam's sin...So, the year of Jubilee and the day of Atonement speak of the fullness of the redemptive plan of G-d for man."*

Tribulation--The Time of Jacob's Trouble

We are in the last days of this year's Rosh HaShanah (Feast of Trumpets) season. One of the significant themes of Rosh HaShanah is 'the time of Jacob’s trouble (the birthpangs of the Messiah)'. Jacob refers to the natural-born of Israel.

As I have written before, it is significant that the United Nations is taking into consideration a bid of statehood for Palestinians which would, if approved, tear the city of Jerusalem in half and be in total opposition to almighty Yahweh's covenant with Israel. Could this be the precursor to 'the time of Jacob's trouble', the seven-year tribulation period? If so, where does the rapture or gathering of the saints fit in God's timetable?

In Matthew 24:8, Yahshua, our Jesus, refers to the tribulation as 'the beginning of sorrows'. The Greek word translated as 'sorrows' here is odin, which means "birthpangs". The birthpangs of the Messiah are also spoken of in Revelation 12:1-2 and Jeremiah 30:4-7:
And these [are] the words that the LORD spake concerning Israel and concerning Judah.
For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.
Ask ye now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness?
Alas! for that day [is] great, so that none [is] like it: it [is] even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. - Jeremiah 30:4-7 KJV
"The interpretation here [of verse 7] is of the day of Babylon's overthrow. The application is of the yet future Great Tribulation of Matthew 24...Jacob's [trouble] Not Israel's, for it is the natural seed that is here in question, not the spiritual." [Note from page 1058 The Companion Bible, Zondervan Bible Publishers.]

To clarify, those who believe on Yahshua, Jesus Christ as the Messiah, are grafted into spiritual Israel (see Romans 11:11 and 17) so that Jew and Gentile become one new man (Ephesians 2:12-16). Those who are natural born of the tribes of Israel who do not accept Jesus as Messiah are not of spiritual Israel.

...For they [are] not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, [are they] all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these [are] not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. - Romans 9:6-8 KJV

So the tribulation will be experienced by the natural born Israelites who have not yet accepted Yahshua as their Messiah.

This period of time will be Israel's most trying time ever... There shall be great tribulation in Israel such as never was since there was a nation (Daniel 12:1). It will also be a time when G-d will ultimately judge sin and all the nations on the earth. Through it, the nation of Israel will be physically saved from total destruction by G-d, and will, as a nation, accept Yeshua as the Messiah. "...But he shall be saved out of it" (Jeremiah 30:7)...[excerpt from page 113 of The Seven Festivals of the Messiah by Edward Chumney]
At this point in my life, I believe that what is referred to as the Great Tribulation is a separate time from what is referred to as 'the wrath'. I am not certain, however, as to when each of these actually begins. It would seem that the demarcation between the tribulation and the wrath would occur when the sixth seal is opened in Revelation 6:
And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood...
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? - Revelation 6:12 and 17 KJV
I've been a student of the Bible for over 30 years yet I don't claim to know it all. Many of my questions have been answered, but researching the Word of God has actually dug up different questions than I had before. I understand that most of the Bible is literal but some sections are metaphorical. I decided to look at Revelation Chapter 7 as a literal order of events.

And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. - Revelation 7:1 KJV
Revelation 7:3-8 goes on to record that 144,000 of the tribes of the children of Israel will be sealed. Then in verse 9--
After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; - Revelation 7:9 KJV
This verse seems to be describing the raptured Body of Christ, those who have made Yahshua, Jesus, their Savior and Lord:
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. - Revelation 7:13-14 KJV
But verse 14 says that these 'came out of great tribulation'. The word 'out' in Revelation 7:14 is translated from the Greek word ek and denotes motion from the interior.
Does this mean the saints are caught up after the great tribulation begins or simulatneously? Is this great multitude who I think it is?
[Diagram from:]Just before this, the 144,000 children of Israel will be sealed. This is so they will be able to be kept alive during the Great Tribulation and come to the knowledge of Yahshua as their Messiah.

Another excerpt from The Seven Festivals of the Messiah reads: The festivals will, beyond a shadow of a doubt, tell you that the resurrection of the dead precedes the time of Jacob's trouble (also known as the tribulation). First Thessalonians 4:16-17 says that the dead in Messiah will rise first, and that the catching away of the believers will immediately follow. [Ibid, page 129]
There are many interpretations of the Book of Revelation. This is where I am at in my understanding at this time. I am open to being convinced otherwise if anyone has Biblical evidence. One thing I am certain of is this, however--we are saved from the wrath to come! (See Romans 5:9.)

It is Rosh HaShanah--the gates of Heaven are open. Will the heavenly shofar call us Home or do we wait a little longer? What do you believe?

Jesus' Appearing and the Fall Festivals

Many of you who read my blog are already familiar with or knowledgeable of the seven festivals or feasts of the Lord as outlined in the 23rd Chapter of the Book of Leviticus. The word ‘feast’ is derived from the Hebrew word mo’ed meaning 'an appointed time'. It is a set time ordained by God—an appointment with humanity.

I find them fascinating and am continuing to learn more every time I delve into the topic. (For an overview of the feasts and how Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s plan for the world through them, click here.)

Currently, it is the season of Rosh Hashanah (the Feast of Trumpets) that culminates on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). Rosh Hashanah is a festival rife with spiritual significance. Here is a list of themes associated with it:

1. Teshuvah (repentance)
2. Rosh HaShanah (Head of the Year, Birthday of the World)
3. Yom Teruah (the Day of the Awakening Blast/Feast of Trumpets)
4. Yom HaDin (the Day of Judgment)
5. HaMelech (the Coronation of the Messiah)
6. Yom HaZikkaron (the Day of Remembrance or memorial)
7. The time of Jacob’s trouble (the birthpangs of the Messiah)
8. The opening of the gates
9. Kiddushin/Nesu’in (the wedding ceremony)
10. The resurrection of the dead (rapture, natzal)
11. The last trump (shofar)
12. Yom Hakeseh (the hidden day)

Above information taken from The Seven Festivals of the Lord by Edward Chumney. His excellent website can be found at:
The Feast of Trumpets is a fall festival that has not yet been fulfilled by the Messiah. When will it be fulfilled?

Simply put, it is when I Thessalonians 4:16-17 occurs:

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. - 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 KJV

Edward Chumney, author of The Seven Festivals of the Lord, gives us more insight:

A theme and term associated with Rosh HaShanah in Hebrew is HaMelech (the King). …The shofar blown on Rosh HaShanah is known as the last trump…which is mentioned in First Thessalonians 4:16-17. At this time, the believers in the Messiah who are righteous…according to Yom HaDin (the Day of Judgment) will escape the tribulation…on earth and will be taken to Heaven in the rapture (natzal) along with the righteous who had died before this time. [excerpt from page 107]

The gates of Heaven are opened on Rosh HaShanah so the righteous nation may enter (Isaiah 26:2; Psalm 118:19-20). Because the gates of Heaven are understood to be open on Rosh HaShanah, this is further evidence that the rapture of the believers in the Messiah Yeshua will take place on Rosh HaShanah. [excerpt from page 115]

Next I will share about the tribulation—the time of Jacob’s trouble.

Whose Afraid of a Big Bad Fireball!

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day; [Nor] for the pestilence [that] walketh in darkness; [nor] for the destruction [that] wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee. - Psalm 91:5-7 KJV

As my manner is, I turned on the TV this morning around 7:30 to check the Weather Channel while I waited for the coffee to brew. The TV was already set on a local channel, however, so I listened as a reporter on WBTV said to be on the watch tonight because there will be a geothermal light show. He went on to say that this was caused by solar flares and could result in knocking out satellite and cell phone usage in some areas. This natural light show could actually be seen the next few nights he added.

This led me to later check on-line regarding any other sources mentioning aurora activity. I found an announcement at the Universe Today site: (Click on

Well, you know how it is once you get on the worldwide web...I clicked on Science Central's link entitled, "Fireballs from Space" ( which opened a 2003 article about solar flares and the changing of Earth's magnetic field that results in natural light shows that might appear on a nightly basis.

Meteorites are also referred to as fireballs and I found some links at Seven Theory Ministries' home page announcing several recent sitings in the US. The most informative (although quite irritating) source was: (

I mention all this because just yesterday my daughter, Rachel, and I were reminiscing about prophetic dreams she had experienced years ago. I had been reading the rest of David Wilkerson's book (see the-heat-is-on) where the Lord had given him a dream of New York City burning and great violence erupting on the streets.

This prompted me to ask her, "Hey, Rachel, didn't you have a dream or two related to fire?" She retold me her dreams. One of them was simply that she was at home looking out a window. The house was full of people we were helping. Suddenly a fireball came down, passed through the window and then through her, but did not harm her or anyone else. She also had a dream where she saw piles of debris on fire scattered around homes in a neighborhood.

Again, I looked on-line and found there were postings of other people who had had similar dreams or visions (
fireball dreams). I did not watch all of them, but one thing they had in common was that THEY WERE NOT HARMED BY THE FIREBALLS.

I believe that our Lord in His great mercy wanted to reassure us of His loving presence in the midst of disaster. So, whatever you are hearing about comets, asteroids, meteorites, or balls of fire falling from the heavenlies, HAVE NO FEAR!

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. - Psalm 91:1-2 KJV

I Just Can't Wait!

Remember when you were a kid and Christmas was coming and you were just busting at the seams with anticipation? "I just can't wait!" blurted from your mouth while your eyes shimmered at the thought of gifts and sugar plums danced around your head?

That's how I feel today.

I admit that it's all this talk about Comet Elenin--will it affect the Earth or not--that got me thinking more about Christ's return. According to Seven Theory Ministries (, there is a possibility of this happening very soon.

"It doesn't seem like it's the right time yet," I said when sharing my thoughts with my family.

"Yeah--I agree," my daughter added.

"What do you mean?" Tom asked me.

"Well, I have always believed that there would be a great move of God, a great harvest of souls before Christ returns (see harvest/crisis)."

"Who's to say that with modern technology that hasn't already occurred," my husband postulated.

We all agreed, however, that meeting the Lord in the air was not as imminent as we would hope. But He is coming.

That's what has me excited! Whether it's time for His appearing or time for a great wave of the Holy Spirit, I just can't wait!! That's why I still believe that we are...

Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better!

My mother loved musicals and it rubbed off on me.

As the eldest daughter, I was privileged to go to the movie theater with her when a new musical came out, so I have fond memories of that.( Anything You Can Do.)

Recently, I watched "Annie Get Your Gun" starring Betty Hutton and Howard Keel. I had forgotten all the wonderful songs in that musical--songs that my mother, sisters, and I would sing as we did dishes and danced around the kitchen!

I thoroughly enjoyed reliving this part of my life. ( You Can't Get a Man With a Gun)

Today, though, I have that strange happy/sad emotion. Sad because I miss my mother who died five years ago; happy because I know with certainty that I will see her eternity. So thank you, Father God, for my mother and for the promise of everlasting life!

Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words. - 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 KJV

The Game Theory

Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun. - Ecclesiastes 8:15 KJV

When I first read the above verse, it did not make sense to me, for surely there are better things for a man to do than eat, drink, and be merry?! But as I studied the word ‘mirth’, which is originally the Hebrew word simchah, I understood that this scripture was referring to having gladness and joy of heart because of the realization of what our God and Lord has done for us. (See especially Ezra 3:8-13)

Yahweh has given us times and seasons for everything under the sun--and there is a time for mirth!

Anyway, I have this theory…just a theory, mind you…I believe that whatever game you excel at, it is an indication of a dominant spiritual gifting you have within you (I Corinthians 12:1).

Okay, yes, I am trying to give some balance to my blog by posting something fun instead of being so serious! The serious side of this (for you know I must have one) is that we as followers of Christ are much more than the outward appearance the world sees; for although we are physical beings, we are primarily spiritual beings.

My family and I especially enjoy playing board games when we’re together. I remember the first time I played Pictionary--a board game that is won by guessing what an assigned illustrator is drawing. It was becoming very popular and some friends of ours invited us to a game night where they were going to play it.

We played in teams, and my team kept winning all evening! It was my first time playing the game and I found that I was good at guessing what the sketch was. This seemed to impress my one teammate, Kevin.

“Watch this!” Kevin announced to the other team. “I’ll draw this next figure and I want Lyn to be the only one who guesses what it is.”

It was all in fun, so I went along with it. Kevin pulled out the next card to see what he was to draw cupping it so that only he could see. I moved to look over his shoulder and he quickly sketched a bunch of ‘X’es crosshatching them over and over, then stopped and looked up at me.

“Haystack?” I immediately answered.

Kevin slammed his hand down on the table. “Yes! That’s right! See what I mean? It's amazing!”

Many Pictionary games and years later I realized how this connected with how the Spirit of the Lord speaks to me many times through pictures that come to my mind. It is one of the primary ways He shows me what I need to pray for, especially when interceding for individuals. (But, honestly, I am not always right discerning what the pictures mean--whether in Pictionary or in the Spirit.)

Let’s talk about Monopoly. I think I have yet to beat my husband Tom in a game of Monopoly. He wins time and again no matter who he plays it with. His gifting is in business and stewardship (although he does not own a monopoly himself).

Okay, so what do ya think? What games are you good at? Does my theory hold or should I simply put an end to it thus proving true Ecclesiastes 7:8?

Better [is] the end of a thing than the beginning thereof…- Ecclesiastes 7:8a KJV

Are we having fun yet?:-)

An Earthquake Where? (or The Heat is On Part 2)

Wow! Two blog posts in one week! Well, I couldn't leave you hanging after writing about the warning David Wilkerson and others have sounded out...

The United States is going to experience, in the not-too-distant future, the most tragic earthquake in its history…I am not at all convinced that this earthquake will take place in California. In fact, I believe it is going to take place where it is least expected. (The Vision and Beyond by David Wilkerson, page 28)

This past May our President met with Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. President Obama's plan for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was (and continues to be) to have Israel's borders return to what they were before the 1967 Arab-Israeli war—albeit with adjustments to account for Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

So what does that have to do with a catastrophic earthquake prophesied to occur in the United States?

The people of Israel have a covenant with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob--the same God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Yahshua Ha Moschiach.

Galatians 3:1-14 teaches that those who accept Christ Jesus under the New Covenant receive the blessings of Abraham. These blessings are enumerated in Deuteronomy 28. But notice the blessing in verse 7:
The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. - Deuteronomy 28:7 KJV
There are serious consequences to those who would force Israel's hand to surrender its land (see Deuteronomy 30:5-7). If Netanyahu were to adhere to Obama's key points, it would threaten the very survival of Israel as a Jewish state.
In those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. - Joel 3:1-2 NIV It has been prophesied that the U.S. will suffer its land being divided by an earthquake if it is instrumental in the land of Israel being divided. This earthquake is to occur in the middle of America at the New Madrid fault line. While searching for the predictions related to this, I came across a site that has grouped these along with other catastrophic prophecies. The site is:

Even science predicts the plausibility of such a calamity:

The incredible book Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel by White House Correspondent, William R. Koenig, proves many disasters befalling America come in direct and immediate response to George H. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush's devotion to robbing Israel of their God-given land.

Quoting from, "All of these major catastrophes transpired on the very same day or within 24-hours of U.S. presidents Bush, Clinton and Bush applying pressure on Israel to trade her land for promises of "peace and security," sponsoring major "land for peace" meetings, making major public statements pertaining to Israel’s covenant land and /or calling for a Palestinian state...(see

With all this overwhelming news, what are we to do? The scriptures show that we should never worry only PRAY.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you. - Psalm 122:6 NKJV Do you believe God is warning America? I'd be glad to hear from you.
If you find the topic of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict confusing, here is a 6-minute youtube video where Israel's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Danny Ayalon, explains the historical facts relating to the conflict. The video explains where the terms "West Bank", "occupied territories" and "1967 Borders" originated and how they have been incorrectly used:

The Heat is On!

The heat is on and you know I’m not referring to your thermostat! Do you realize that the crazy weather patterns we’re experiencing were foretold years ago?

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. - Amos 3:7 KJV

Almighty Yahweh does reveal things to His people. In the Old Testament times it was primarily through those named as prophets. Since Christ has come and sent the Holy Spirit, now those who make Jesus Christ their Lord have the Spirit of God born within them and are able to hear from their Heavenly Father themselves (see I Corinthians chapter 12). And God continues to also speak through individuals to people. Not that everyone who prophesies is a prophet, but we all are able to prophesy as the Holy Spirit pours into us:

For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. - 1 Corinthians 14:31 KJV

From time to time the Lord has inspired me to speak a message to His people. Most of the time it was words of encouragement, exhortation, and comfort. However, beginning in the nineties, the Spirit of the Lord had me bring forth a warning over and over again. The first time I spoke it was one Sunday before the congregation in the little country church we were part of. It is difficult to explain the urgency I felt as I delivered the message…

“There is a time of great trouble coming upon the earth and unless you are intimate with the Lord, you will not make it.”

I trembled as the urging of The Holy Spirit had me speak this three times in a row to the people.

I didn’t know it then, but the following week we were led by the Spirit to leave our beloved little country church and eventually move to another area.

This will sound strange to many of you, but the same thing happened in the next three churches we were members of. One time, I was inspired to pick up an instrument made of a gourd wrapped in small seashells. As I shook it, it made a loud swishing sound and I said, “Shake! Shake! Shake! Everything that can be shaken will be shaken! Enter into your prayer closets—seek My face.”

I believe this is why I repeatedly blog about entering into a place of quiet before the Lord of Glory. He wants to speak to us. He wants to fellowship with us. He wants us to live expecting to hear His voice. We NEED to hear His voice—one day it may be a matter of life and death.

More and more earthquakes have been occurring around the world. This too has been prophesied. Today I feel urged to write about a great earthquake prophesied to hit the U.S. This has been foretold not just by one person, but by many. A man of God named David Wilkerson wrote of it back in 1973 under the title, The Vision, and in 2003 republished it under the name, The Vision and Beyond. Here is an excerpt:

The United States is going to experience, in the not-too-distant future, the most tragic earthquake in its history…I am not at all convinced that this earthquake will take place in California. In fact, I believe it is going to take place where it is least expected. (The Vision and Beyond by David Wilkerson, page 28)

Why am I writing this? Most of the people who read my humble blog already know many of the things I have written here. Who knows. Maybe a blogger will stumble upon this article—someone who doesn’t know he can commune with the Lord of Glory—and BANG! receive a lightening bolt in their mind and spirit. I pray it is so.

Next time I blog, I would like to share with you why this earthquake is almost certainly destined to happen.

Trusting in Him~

A Time to Serve

Lately I have been bounding out of bed and heading for the backyard instead of heading to the guest room where I pray. This is so I can enjoy my work in the gardens and avoid the oppressive heat and humidity of the day. This is the first year I have had a flower garden in addition to a small vegetable garden, and I just love it.

But I love My King even more than my flowers. As I was cleaning up after making a big breakfast for my husband and I this morning, my thoughts went to my Beloved Lord. “I am happiest when I serve You, Lord. I miss serving You.” (My mind was on how I had been so active in ministering in the church and now I am not.)

Suddenly, His love poured over me and He spoke. “When you serve your husband, when you serve your family, you are serving Me.” My yearning heart was filled. Simultaneously, the scripture came to me…

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me. - Matthew 25:40 KJV

The Book of Ecclesiastes speaks of there being a time for everything under heaven. I believe it is time to serve. Yes, we are always to be servants of the Most High, but we are coming into an actual season where the world will see the followers of Yahshua, our Jesus, as true servants of love.

And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, [the same] shall be last of all, and servant of all. - Mark 9:35 KJV

Let Us Love to Serve and Serve With Love!

To Beeeeeeee

It turns out that it was a wise decision for me to take a blogger break, for May was a very happenin’ month!

It started out great with me hosting the women in my family at our home Mother’s Day Weekend. I ended up riding home with my sister Kim (who lives about six hours away) and spending the next two weeks trying to catch my breath as I followed her around and ‘helped’. Like me, she is fifty-something but has the schedule and energy of a woman decades younger!

Anyway, weeks ago Kim had had a vision of me being at her home for her annual garden tea party that she hosted for the women of her church and their guests. At the time, I did not see how it would be possible for me to be there (we have only one vehicle), but Yahweh made a way.

Kim shared with me that the theme of the party was centered around bees. She showed me interesting facts she had collected about bees and compared them to characteristics we as followers of Christ should emulate. As we conversed, The Spirit of the Lord showed us how it was important first TO BE in order TO BEE. By this He meant we must first practice being in the presence of the Almighty before becoming busy as a bee.

A couple of days later while brushing my teeth, The Holy Spirit brought something to my remembrance (has that ever happened to you?). He reminded me of a study I had done years ago on Deborah, a judge of Israel as recorded in the Old Testament, whose name means ‘bee’. When I shared this with Kim, she realized that I was to share about Deborah at the tea party and I was honored to do so.

And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. - Judges 4:4-5 KJV

A biblical judge differs from a modern-day judge in that they served as military leaders of their tribe and as Godly counselors knowing Yahweh’s laws and commandments.

I like that the Word of God gives a picture of where Deborah lived…under the palm tree of Deborah. Her tent was probably pitched there, but I see her sitting under its shade and perhaps praying—simply BE-ing in God’s presence. Out of this place of being in His presence, she was prepared when a dispute arose and a tribesman sought out her wisdom for ‘the children of Israel came up to her for judgment’.

Deborah is described as the ‘wife of Lapidoth’. This phrase can be translated more literally as ‘woman of torches/lightenings’ or ‘woman of fiery spirit'.

Like a bee that can see ultraviolet rays (which humans cannot), I believe Deborah saw with spiritual eyes leading Israel with confidence and a fiery spirit! Deborah was a mother to Israel and like a protective mother she flew at the enemies of her people and her sting was fatal! She must have been highly esteemed as a military leader; for in the clash with the Canaanites, her general, Barak, would not go into battle without her (Judges 4:8)!

I exhorted the women to seek the Lord’s face daily—even if only for several minutes before beginning their day—and to do so throughout the day bringing their thoughts captive to Christ, and to remember Deborah.

As is the Lord’s way, soon after I returned home He gave me the opportunity to practice what I preach. One of my sons has lived in an adult care home for some time. He called to tell me that he and his wife (who is also disabled) were going to have to move out of the home because the state’s Medicaid funding was in trouble.

This news was crushing to my family. We could not take them into our home—where could they go? I wanted to lay my head down on the kitchen table and cry in despair.

Then I remembered to BE. My Heavenly Father was the one who made a way for my son to move into that adult care home in the first place. It was where he met and married his wife. Surely Yah could make a way where there seemed to be no way (1 Corinthians 10:13)!

And He did. At first, we believed our son and his wife would have to move out of state, but in actuality, the adult care home's lawyers found a loophole so that current residents could stay. Oh! How He loves us!

Practicing to beeeeeeee...

What is My Purpose?

While worshipping alongside my husband and daughter in our living room this past Friday night, again the Spirit of the Lord spoke a truth I needed to hear.

I had been feeling worthless and without purpose lately. When I was busy mothering back in the 1980’s and ‘90’s, home schooling, and keeping house for my family, I felt significant. My husband and I were vital participants in a local church. Now my children are grown, I contribute nothing financially to the household, and I have no responsibilities to fulfill to a local fellowship group.

I asked my husband if I should look for a job to help with the increase in the cost of living. I was willing to work at the local Wal-Mart (probably one of the very few places hiring people in their fifties). He graciously said, “Absolutely not. When you did work, it was with people we know.” His words confirmed to me that working outside the home is not God’s plan for my life in this season.

So what is my purpose?

That night I heard in my spirit that I was forgetting who I was and that my purpose stems from that identity. My purpose does not generate from what I DO—it emanates from WHO I AM IN CHRIST!

My purpose is the same as ALL children of Yahweh—to worship and fellowship with our Heavenly Father through His Son.

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. - 1 John 1:3 KJV
That word ‘fellowship’ is translated from the Greek word koinonia and means “communion, intercourse, intimacy” [see Strongs No.G2842]. Our primary calling is to FELLOWSHIP with Jesus Christ and His Father!

God [is] faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. - 1 Corinthians 1:9 KJV
Only in that intimate place of fellowship will you derive your worthiness. In the veil of His presence, you will receive direction and purpose. Even if all He wants is to just spend some time being close to you.

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; - Philippians 3:10 KJV

Sleeping Beauty

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. - Isaiah 60:1 KJV

Remember the Disney classic movie Sleeping Beauty? Recently, the Holy Spirit gave me a vision while praying that reminded me of that movie. The vision was a path or road being blocked by briers and thorns. It reminded me of the scene where the Prince bravely hacks at the briers with his sword determined to reach Sleeping Beauty in yon castle to awaken her with a kiss.

The Church is Sleeping Beauty and the Prince is—you guessed it—the Lord Yahshua, our Jesus. Those who are awake and standing with the Prince of Glory are also facing a pathway blocked by dangerous barbs. I prayed for the Holy Fire of God to burn away the briers (see Hebrews 12:29) and obliterate any doubt or fear His people were suffering with.

The briers are from the enemy of our soul who is ‘pulling out all the stops’ for he knows his days are numbered (see Revelation 12:1-12). He does not want the sleeping giant, the beautiful Bride of Christ, awakened. He wants her out of commission!

And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed. - Romans 13:11 KJV

Do you remember how Sleeping Beauty ends? The valiant Prince flings his trusty sword at the Dragon and strikes it precisely in the heart ending its life. In these tremulous days, if we can remain determined to stand (Ephesians 6:13), we will see great and mighty things happen at the hand of God (Jeremiah 33:3).

I am honored to pray for you...
